Avengers: Doomsday – Major Returns and Surprises Await
Marvel Studios has unveiled the full cast for Avengers: Doomsday during a five-and-a-half-hour livestream event. The movie sees the return of several familiar faces from previous Avengers films. Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), and Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man) will reprise their roles. Robert Downey Jr. will also return, but this time as the villainous Doctor Doom, despite Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame.
The biggest surprise came with the return of X-Men stars. Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Professor Xavier, despite his character’s death in both Logan and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), James Marsden (Cyclops), Channing Tatum (Gambit), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) will also return.
Additionally, new cast members include Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), and Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), among others.
The movie marks the Avengers’ return after six years, following their defeat of Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on May 1, 2026, following Thunderbolts (May 2, 2025) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25, 2025). Fans are eagerly anticipating this next chapter in the MCU.
