Jaat Box Office Collection Day 8: Sunny Deol’s Film Crosses ₹61.5 Cr, Sequel Announced Despite Slow Run
Sunny Deol-starrer Jaat has completed over a week at the box office and managed to cross the ₹60 crore mark. On Day 8, the film earned ₹4 crore, bringing its nett domestic total to ₹61.5 crore. Despite not even nearing the ₹100 crore milestone, the makers have already announced a sequel titled Jaat 2, with director Gopichand Malineni set to return.
In a year where very few Hindi films are making an impact, Jaat stands as the fourth-highest Bollywood grosser of 2025. Topping the charts are Chhaava (₹600 crore), Sky Force (₹112 crore), and Sikandar (₹110 crore). Interestingly, Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, was expected to dominate the box office but ended up with disappointing collections.
Jaat opened with ₹9.5 crore and peaked on Day 4 with ₹14 crore. However, collections have seen a consistent drop since then. The film reported an overall 10% occupancy on Thursday, with 1300 shows in Delhi-NCR (11%) and 600 shows in Mumbai (9%). With the release of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2, Jaat is expected to lose a significant number of screens over the weekend.
The film’s announcement of a sequel despite average performance suggests confidence in the franchise potential. Sunny Deol, riding high after the massive success of Gadar 2 (₹525 crore in India), has seen a resurgence in his career. He is also lined up for major releases including Lahore 1947 (produced by Aamir Khan) and Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh.
Whether Jaat 2 can turn the franchise into a box office success story remains to be seen, especially as competition heats up with new Bollywood releases.
