EV Adoption Readiness and Market Share
As per the GEMRIX 2022 list, Norway leads the list of nations for its preparedness for EV adaption.
India ranks 11th in the readiness index.
India’s EV Share
- In May 2024 India had 2. 6% EV passenger car sales. By 2025 May- this went up to 4.1%
- With the introduction of Tesla, India’s overall EV adoption will go to 4.4%.
Three-Wheelers (3W):
- Indian audience is keen on 3 wheels EV adaption. In 2023, India sold 5 lakh 80 thousand units whereas China sold 3 lakh 20 thousand units. India is thus a largest market in 3 wheeler electronic vehicles.
Production Ambitions:
- As per a report estimation, by the year 2030, India is projected to become the fourth largest EV car manufacturer just behind China, Europe and the U.S. During this time, the production capacity will increase to 2.5 million units from the current numbers of 0.2 million units.
